AN OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT
Planning & Water Resources Management
The Department of Planning & Water Resources Management is made up of 3 divisions i.e.
- Hydrology and
- Infrastructure Planning.
The staff is made up of Geohydrological and Hydrological Scientists who specialised mainly in either ground or surface water management and Engineers responsible for water infrastructure planning. It also provides for the NamWater GIS specialist.
The department is reporting to the CEO and delivers various services to the Business Units of Water Supply and the Department Programme Management.
THE FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT AND THEIR ROLE IN THE PROCESS OF SUPPLYING WATER
The Department of Planning & Water Resources Management contributes to the reduction in the risk of security of water supply through:
- Infrastructure planning
- Water resources management i.e.:
- ground water and
- surface water
- Geographical Information System (GIS) as a auxiliary service to the divisions and all other internal and external stakeholders
