AN OVERVIEW OF THE DIVISION
The division consists of four divisions as indicated in the diagram below.
THE FUNCTIONS OF THE DIVISION AND THEIR ROLE IN THE PROCESS OF SUPPLYING WATER
The Enterprise Asset Management Department has the function of tracking assets from their purchase or creation, to the conclusion of the assets’ useful life, with the objective of maximising the value added to NamWater during the assets’ life. It is also provides NamWater with a service related to the provision of heavy equipment and vehicles required to facilitate the water supply function.
THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE DIVISION
In order to fulfil its functions, the Department provides the following services:
Asset Management manages the required inputs to the Business System (SAP) regarding the purchase/creation of assets, depreciation of assets and disposal of assets at the end of their useful life.
Maintenance Support provides support to the NamWater Business Units with respect to larger maintenance works
Maintenance Planning provides assistance to the Business Units with respect to planning, scheduling and tracking of routine maintenance activities. The Maintenance Planning Division is the custodian of those components of the Business System (SAP), which indicate when Scheduled Maintenance should be undertaken and record the inputs used to execute maintenance, both Scheduled and ad-hoc.
Plant and Fleet Management provides a service to NamWater with respect to the purchase of heavy equipment and vehicles required to facilitate the operations of the Company. It provides a service related to the tracking of vehicles during their use for the Company and provides assistance with maintenance of vehicles and heavy equipment.
